No regrets.

Please describe your view of the academic world in the past year in one word?
Undercurrents.

What was the happiest thing in the past year?
We wrote an article in the (Microsoft) Hackathon, and then the company took us on a tour of the United States, which was very enjoyable.

Which achievement excited you the most in the past year?
The key-value store we created set a milestone for the performance of key-value stores, and it was published at a top conference.

Any regrets from the past year?
I think our system was developed too slowly. Many things that seemed simple were too difficult to implement.

What do you do when the experimental results are not satisfactory?
I usually read the “Einstein Collection” or some casual books to cultivate my scientific temperament.

What are your expectations for 2018?
Implement a new, decentralized data center architecture with programmable hardware.

Advice for the younger generation.
I hope to work on a few classic problems during my Ph.D., and have some understanding of the work of predecessors.
